Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: February, 2025
1. Account Registration
- Customers must have an account with Smart Move Logistics to ship packages.
- Registration is free, and all information provided during registration must be accurate, truthful, and valid.
2. Pre-Alerting Packages
- All packages must be pre-alerted at least 24 hours before arriving at the warehouse.
- Pre-alerts must include all required fields, payment (via credit or debit card), and submission of necessary documents.
3. Payment and Invoices
- Packages must be paid for in full, with invoices attached, to be eligible for shipping.
- Consolidated packages must include the original pre-alerted package details and respective invoices.
- Packages not pre-alerted or consolidated will be held for up to 15 days for invoice submission. Invoices submitted within this period, the packages will be included in the next scheduled flight.
4. Unpaid or Uninvoiced Packages
- Packages without submitted invoices after 15 days will be destroyed.
- Unpaid or uninvoiced packages are deemed the property of Smart Move Logistics. No refunds will be provided for such packages.
- Customers may request an extended duration for invoice submission, subject to management approval.
5. Customs Duties and VAT
- Packages with an invoice value exceeding $30.00 USD are subject to customs duties and VAT.
- Barbados Customs calculates consolidated package invoices as a single master invoice, allowing the $30.00 USD commercial value limit to apply to consolidated items.
- Customers will be notified of duty charges while packages are being processed by customs.
- Incorrect invoices uploaded by customers may result in duties based on the provided invoice. Smart Move Logistics is not responsible for additional fees arising from incorrect invoices.
6. Delivery and Storage
- Next-day delivery service is available, with packages delivered to the customer's requested destination.
- Undelivered packages will be returned to storage if not delivered on the scheduled date. Customers have a 3-day window to reschedule delivery.
- Packages held in storage beyond the 3-day window will incur a storage fee of $5 BBD per day.
7. Loss/Damage Claims and Insurance
- Contact the respective vendors to state a claim for your damaged/loss packages (This must always be first action taken).
- Claims for loss/damaged packages will be investigated by SML Management and processed within 24 hours.
- For packages arriving at the warehouse damaged, customers will be notified with supporting images.
8. Liability
- Smart Move Logistics is not liable for delays, losses, or damages caused by third parties, incorrect invoices, or events beyond our control.
- Customers agree to hold Smart Move Logistics harmless from any claims arising from breaches of these terms.
9. Returns
- Package returns are only eligible while the package is still at the warehouse.
- Customers must click the "Return" button for the specific package, fill out the return form, and pay the applicable return fee.
- Packages already in transit to or arrived in Barbados are not eligible for return.
10. Modifications to Terms
Smart Move Logistics reserves the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Customers will be notified of changes through their registered account.
